I had my implants placed on July 14. I was supposed to have 6 implants but the periodontist only placed 4. I had a root canal tooth which had an infection and there was more bone loss caused by this than the doctor expected. As a result, she did a bone graft and said she will place the other two implants in a few months. Overall, the experience was not bad. I had very little pain, although I did have much swelling and bruising. Now, I have some redness, swelling and irritation on the lower gum and lip. I don't know if this may be caused by an infection or possibly a reaction to the the Periogard that I am using. I was on antibiotics the first 7 days. I'm not having pain but I plan to call the doctor Monday and check with her.

What type of implants did you get done. Are you having individual teeth placed on them or do/will you wear dentures???
I am having 6 implants placed on the bottom on Tuesday. They will be immediate load implates that are held in place with friction not the typical O ring. I currently have a full lower denture and the implants receivers will be placed into my exsisting denture appliance. I will have to wear my lower denture appliance for 10 days without removing it and using a dental water pick to clean my mouth out. After that time I will be able to remove the denture for cleanings.

After the implants are uncovered in a few months, I'll have a bar attachment and an impression for a permanent lower overdenture. The overdenture will attach to the bar and will be removable. I'll have a temporary lower denture made in a few weeks to wear until the bar attachment is placed.
