View Full Version : Lesions on the cervix???

I am new to this board and very stressed out and concerned that I may have cervical cancer. I am 28 years old and have 2 kids (9 & 6)and I am divorced. I have had a couple of abnormal paps. At my last repeat test on Wednesday, my Dr said that there were lesions on my cervix. Now I have to wait 6 weeks for my pap results. I also have a history of HPV, which I got from an ex boyfriend. I am worried sick. I have been single for a long time now, but one day if I meet someone and fall in love, I might want to get re-married and have more kids. I would be devistated if that was unable to happen. I am also on the birth control pill Allesse, and have been on it for many years. My last period was pretty much nil, which is very odd for me. Since I am on the pill, it comes the exact same day every month and is always the same. This month, I bled lightly for one day, normally I am fairly heavy and my period lasts 5 days. I would greatly appreciate any insight from anyone who has had similar symptoms. Thank-you so much for taking the time to read.

Jodi, who is worried sick. :(

Why on EARTH does it take your dr 6 weeks to get results? Switch doctors. NOW.

Get your results, get a colpo if necessary, follow up on this quickly and remember even in advanced stages -- its very treatable. Remember--- dont let that much time lapse in between appointments. EVER :) Time is the important factor here.

Also, be happy you have two children -- many women cannot have any, THAT is devastating. I dont mean to lessen the seriousness of your situation or feelings (trust me Im in the same boat , but without any kids yet!) but you are well ahead of many women already and dont have to think about never having ANY of your own kids (its a horrifying though going through this before you've had any) So look at them as blessings.... That being said, these treatments are very low risk in terms of future pregnancies , just need to be watched/monitered well and its important to have a great gyn thorughout it all.

Good luck!

Thank-you so much.... Now that I think about it, how selfshish of me to be upset because of that reason... I mean, I am entitled to my feelings but you are so right.... Women are going through this who have no children. I am so sorry for all of you and hopefully the future will bring good things for you.
It is taking my Dr 6 weeks because they dont want me to come in on the 4th week when it is supposed to be back, incase it isnt, and they're on holidays for a week the week after that (they take a week off every month it seems)
This is the same Dr that when I complained about lack of sex drive after starting a new medication, his response was... "Women and men are different, men need a sex drive, women dont, they can do it anyhow"!! Now, I know you're thinking, why do you still go to this ***, but in Ontario where I am, there are a lack of Dr's, and right now, he's my only option. When I ask him for a referal to a specialist, normally, he says it something he can take care of.

hello i understand where you are coming from i also have two kids married and 28 years old. i was told last week that i have high grade squamous intraepithelial lesions my doctor is a good friend of mine and he said i had no signs of HPV he said since i had a family history of cancer that i my changes of it being cancer is greater i hadn't had a pap done in 3-4 years back then it was just acute squamous and nothing was done i didn't have insurance so i never had a pap done. when i was talking with him the other day he was concerned that it was cancer because of polps on the side wall and i trust him he wouldn't tell me that if he wasnt concerned he said he is hoping that it is just dyplasia but he thinks its stage 1-2 cancer. i go next week for a colposcopy and biopsy.

how did everything turn out for you

Welcome to my world. I am in Ontario Canada. I just waited 13 months to have my ankle rebuilt (had it done in June) because there are a lack of Dr's here.
Normally the results wait for this test is 4 weeks, but she wanted to make sure they were there by week 5, and then they're on holidays.

Thanks

Jodi
