My 18mo DD has been acting strange lately, I can't quite put my finger on it but just odd. She has been sleeping a lot more then usual, which I first thought was because of the heat, but the heat has died down a LOT for the past 4 days and she's still sleeping lots. She usually has 1 afternoon nap for 2 hours or less and goes to bed around 7:30pm and gets up around 8am. Lately she has still been taking her 2 hour nap, but is tired and wants to go to bed by 5:30pm! I've been doing everything I can just too keep her up untill 6/6:30. Then she doesn't get up untill 9am, and usually only because I wake her up then for breakfast.

She hasn't been eating well at all, she used to eat a big breakfast of milk, toast, eggs, cheerios and a whole banana, now she might eat 1/4 of a banana and 1/2 piece of toast. She still eat's her snacks ok, but won't eat more then a couple of bites of lunch and supper.

She's still happy and active thoughout the day, just is pooped by suppertime and wants to go to bed. She's teething but has been pretty well constantly for a few months, it's not really anything new. And she already has her 2 year molars, so I know that's not it. Once in awhile she has a very slight tempature, but that is probably from her teething too.

She just doesn't seem "right" too me. Does this sound like anything to be worried about, or just another toddler "stage"?

Maybe you could take her to her Doctor and get her Iron checked..IF it is low, that could be the reason she is tired alot..My 18mo goes thru stages of where she is not wanting to eat, especially if she can't feed herself.. :p

Good LUck,

If she doesn't seem like herself, I'd make an appointment with the pediatrician just to rule out any illnesses. Maybe she's just going through a growth spurt and needs more sleep, but if it's been going on for more than a day or 2, I'd make an appointment. Does she have a fever?

This has been going on for over a week now. I have a ped appointment for her next monday (not tomorrow), I'm not sure whether to wait or take her in to the walk-in clinic tomorrow. The thing with the walk-in clinic is gawd knows what you bring home with you  I always seem to go there healthy and come home sick, lol.

2 nights I've noticed she was a bit warm, but her temp was only 99/100, which happens a lot if she's teething, so I wasn't too worried.

I haven't fed her since she was about 12mo, lol, she won't let me :p . It's her way or no way. The good thing is she is a master of the fork and spoon now! lol.

I never thought about her iron. I'm aneimic myself, so maybe I should have her checked.

Thanks Gals!

DS has gotten this way when he's had ear infections. Usually no symptoms except he sleeps more, doesn't want to eat as much and feels a tad warm.
