Does anyone know anything about this thing. It is 5 cm (2 inches) on left ovary.
Apparently they are there from birth. Supposed to consist of hair, teeth, and bones. UGH?
Has anyone had one of these? Have you been diagnosed with CA from it. Thankyou

Can I ask you - how do you know for sure it is a dermoid? I have a solid mass on my left ovary too seen on an ultrasound that I have having surgery for in two weeks - they can't be sure what it is until it is sent to pathology so I was curious how they told you it was a dermoid? Thanks.

The Dr said from the Ultra sound it was not a fluid filled cyst. Apparently it is wrapped around the whole ovary. I guess that is why he said it was a dermoid, because it was a solid cyst.

I've had dermoid cysts..these cysts are rarely cancerous and may contain tissue, hair and teeth. I've had surgery to remove large cysts on my ovaries.
if you go to your gyno. he/she may prescribe birth control (it helps shrinks them if they are relatively small)
but considering on your size, it could grow larger, due to the foods you eat.
after i had mine removed, i stopped eating fast food, sodas, and fried foods.
but if you have pain and it's contstant, your doc may ask that u get a mri to detect how big the cyst is
