I have been taking birth control pills for about 9 years. I stopped taking them back in March. In April I started have alot of periods in 1 month. They average about 10 days apart, moderate flow. The period that just started a week ago started of as a dark brown color for a few days, then turned bright red. (sorry)

I have suffered from chronic vaginal infections for years. I have had an on and off pain in my lower right side for about a year. I feel bloated. I have excessive gas (although I did have IBS). Lately I have several episodes of lightheadness and nausea daily.

My dr did order an ultrasound but I will probably have to pay for it because of deductibles. I feel so frustrated with all these female problems! I am only 30 years old. Shouldn't my chances for cancer be extremely low?

Thx for your time.

they say after 10 yrs of the BC pill, it loses efficteveness - some other reasons why you should stop after 10 yrs.

Also the pain could be one of many many things, cancer is often symptomless.....If its been going on a year I'd get all the ultrasounds possible and find a specialist, not just a gyn. It could be a harmless cyst even. Maybe a gastroenterologist - or however it's spelled? Possibly an endocrinologist to get a whole battery of tests to start? Finding a new doctor is important if this one isnt trying hard to get to the bottom of it... good luck!

I have been on the birth control pill for about 10 years as well... I am still on it (just to keep me regular) because I am not sexually active right now. While on the pill, my last peroid (for the first time since taking the pill) was pretty much NIL. All there was was like one day of mostly brown. I also have HPV and abnormal paps. Not sure if maybe I should go off the pill??
