Hey. Im a 16 year old boy and i always spike my hair up with gel...every day almost. im using gel that has a good hold on the hair when its spiked up..and my hair usually becomes very hard and stiff just like anybody.. Im just wondering if hair gel is bad for your hair? Will i have hair loss when im older? Anything will happen to my hair?

I usually shower at nights and wash all the gel out of my hair, using shampoo.

Hi....no, gel won't cause you to lose your hair. It's good you wash it off daily...washing your hair daily is good since it stimulates the scalp, oils, and washes off residue.

If you are going to lose your hair, it would be preprogrammed in your genes. It's dictated by hormones. If you have illness, or are on certain meds, they can also cause hairloss, as well as being malnutritioned...etc.

Gel is benign...unless you have an allergy to it and are constantly scratching causing hair breakage ag the scalp..then, you'll notice less hair, but's not permanent.

Just out of curiosity, what gel are you using...you say it has great hold. Good to know.

Many great hair days to you!
