Recently during long runs (3 plus hours), I have been getting blurry vision in my right eye. It is like looking thru a foggy window. It typically lasts an hour or two. Is anyone familiar with this condition.

Is anyone familiar with this condition. themaker111 08-01-2005, 03:28 AM I have this exact same problem. After heavy physical exertion or high amounts of stress I get cloudy vision out of my right eye. It doesn't hurt at all, just cloudy. I've also noticed that rainbow halos form around lights as a result of this fog. After a few hours, it subsides and my eye goes back to normal. I have seen three eye doctors and no one can give me an answer. I suspected that its a form of glaucoma but my IOP is normal, there is no optic nerve damage, and my field of vision is perfect. It's very odd, however, because when you have certain forms of glaucoma, the liquid in your eye gets clogged up and when it does your vision becomes cloudy. The only other thing that causes this is cataracts that I know of. I am off to see my fourth opt. this week in search of an answer. It's severely annoying not knowing what is causing this and if it could be dangerous. I find myself not wanting to be physically active in fear of the cloudiness with halos. I'll keep you updated if you'll do the same for me. Good luck! Torre 08-01-2005, 06:17 PM It's probably not this, but you could look up Uthoff Syndrome. This is when 'flakes' of pigment break off from the iris and can clog up the fluid drainage system in your eyes. This can cause a temporary increase in your eye pressure, cause temporary blurred vision, and can lead to pigmentary glaucoma. Another possibility is insufficient blood flow to your eyes during/after exercise, particularly your right eye. You need to get checked. fmethot 08-18-2005, 09:26 AM Another possibility is insufficient blood flow to your eyes during/after exercise, particularly your right eye. Hi I get the same problem with my right eye after a long run. I am curious to know why insufficient blood flow will affect particularly the right eye? fmethot 08-18-2005, 09:29 AM Another possibility is insufficient blood flow to your eyes during/after exercise, particularly your right eye. Hi, I notice that I get the same blurry vision after a long run. I am curious to know why insuficient blood flow will affect particularly the right eye? kws6000 08-19-2005, 10:52 PM I have this exact same problem. A transient iop increase can cause this.Unless the Iop remains elevated visual fields and optic nerve heads will appear normal.I would schedule an eye exam to coincide for when you are symptomatic. matthewinuk 03-15-2006, 12:07 PM This could be an optic neuritis such as seen in early MS, displaying an Uthoff's phenomenon. A neurological consult is advised |
