Hi everyone, DD is 7 weeks old and her stools are a greenish-gray color and the consistancy of toothpaste. I breastfed her for a little over a week, then switched to Similac Advance formula for 3 weeks, but she was projectile vomiting so we switched her to goodstart a few weeks ago. I spoke with my nutritionist before switching her and followed his advice of slowly switching, mixing a small amount of goodstart and over a 2 wk period increasing the ratio. Does anyone know if this is normal? They have been like this for at least a week now. She has at least one bm a day and has no problems passing them and is otherwise a healthy happy baby. Should I be worried?

Have her stools always been that way? Is she gaining weight properly or is your doctor concerned with failure to thrive? Is she happy, not fussy? If you're concerned take her in to the doctor. DS had green poo but he was on a predigested formula because of a digestive disorder and reflux

That is my DD's stools to a tee! Are they hard like? Well, now they are yellowish again but before the were green/gray and had that consistancy of toothpaste as well or like I said maybe playdoh. We've been putting Karo Syrup in her bottles (one ts) and that has seemed to help. But my DD was constipated and when she would have a BM that is what it looked like. I too had to switch her formula but from Nestle Soy to Isomil Soy. That sounds like reflux to me. Does your Dr think she needs Soy?

Hey! My DD would have green poops EVERY time I fed her Goodstart. It has something to do with the way the "comfort proteins" are broken down, and I researched it and found it was very normal of Good Start.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone. Actually just about a half hour ago her bm was half green/grey and half like seedy mustard so maybe it was the change in formula. I think I was worried because I had read that by this age, bottle fed babies generally have more brownish formed stools. Ladies have you ever worried over poop as much in your life? lol. Anyway, she sees the Dr. in 2 weeks so I'll ask then. She is a very happy baby, always smiling... unless she's hungry that is, then watch out! I feel much better now-thanks again :)

My DD were also like this on good start dha .I went to the store and they were out of the dha kind so I gave her the regular purple kind and she's much better. Her stools are yellow seedy now and she has less gas. Dr said some babies are sensitive to the dha ara formulas.

Thanks again! Everything seems to be getting better...like you said kinda seedy yellow. She actually just had one that went right up her back, out her diaper and all over me! Though I was worried that everything was functioning ok, after that episode I am sure of it! lol. Oh the joys of being a mommy.
