Hi, I am hoping that someone on these message boards can give me some information. I am now 3 weeks out of Lasik surgery and I've still been having really bad problems with dry eyes. I went to another doctor today for a second opinion and he told me that my eyes are still VERY dry to keep using lubricating drops and restasis. He also told me that I have something called Blepharitis, which sounds very scary, and that I probably had pre-existing dry eye that was mild. Has anyone else had a flare-up of Blepharitis after Lasik? The Blepharitis can also cause dry eye which may be part of my problem. I am so worried that I am not going to be able to get these things under control. I am going to use hot compresses to try and open up my oil glands, but I would love to hear any information you might have that could help me.

I don't understand why my Lasik eye doctor didn't warn me of these complications before my surgery if they were pre-existing conditions. I used Lasik Plus in Atlanta and I like the doctors but I can't remember if they did tests for these conditions. I know that some other people here have used them and I would love to hear from you. I'm not saying anything bad about the clinic or the doctors, I'm just worried and I could use some information. Thanks in advance!

I also posted this in the Lasik eye section so if you see it twice that's why.

You may have had some degree of blepharitis before your LASIK surgery. Blepharitis is a chronic condition that can take several weeks/months to develop.

Dry eyes can be a temporary problem in the weeks after LASIK surgery. But, sometimes it can be permanent side effect of the surgery.

You need to continue using your tear drops & Restasis, and treat the blepharitis as your doctor instructed.

Did you receive punctal plugs after the surgery? If not, you need to ask your doctor about punctal plugs.

Thanks for the info. I have temp plugs in both eyes and I am doing warm compresses and restasis daily. Do you know how long it takes before dry eyes should start to diminish (if they are going to :( anytime soon) or improve. I know that it is usually gradual.

I've heard/read it can start to get better for most people after 4-6 weeks.
I've thought about getting LASIK myself, so I've read a lot about it. But things like this make me not want to do it.

I hope it gets better for you.
