Hello i didn't know where to write this but hoping someone will help me..
I recently had an abortion however there were some complications after. The abortion was not complete the baby was not removed so few weeks later i bleeded in big amounts and was rushed to the hospital.
a month later i had to do an ultrasound to check if everything has been removed they said im fine but they gave me a copy of the results and it showed that i have a 4 cm diameter cyst on my left ovary.
that was about 3 months ago. I do not know if it has gotten more severe i dont know what to do. I am in a country where i canot go to a gynocologyst until married. What can i do?
I dont know if i had it before the abortion or it started after and i dont know if it is growing or i should really seek medical help.
please help.

cocodidi:

There are different types of ovarian cysts. Some are functional (in other words, the body forms them and uses them for certain reasons) and eventually resolve, but others aren't. If you are not experiencing any symptoms, you are probably okay, although normally, an ob-gyn would bring you back in 3-6 months (presumeably, your cyst was fluid filled and not solid or mixed) for a follow-up ultrasound.

If you have pain with fever and vomiting, sudden, severe abdominal pain, faintness, dizziness, or weakness, or rapid breathing, you should go to the ER right away.

Is there some reason that your regular Dr. cannot order a test for you. I don't know what country you live it and it is interesting that they do abortions but do not allow you to go to a gynocologist. Women do have gynocological problems before they are married even if they are not sexually active. Most cysts before menapause will go away in a couple months and are not considered dangerous but I would talk to your regular Dr. about it.

I had the same problem with an abortion being incomplete, only my Dr. (the quack) would not acknowledge it and I went thru tremendous pain passing clots and who knows what else. It was like being in labor.I sympathyize with you. I never had any followup tests though so you did get good care in the end.

I think if I was really worried about it and no one will do anything I would figure out someway to get the ultrasound again if I had to lie about pain or something. I think that policy of your country stinks and is certainly not in the patients best interest. I would talk to your regular Dr. and see if they can order a test.

4 cm is pretty large..and they usually remove those if they do no go away within a couple of months by themselves, or with the use of birth control.

i've had cysts, but didn't know about it until i was in excruciating pain, come to find out i have a 18 cm cyst on my right ovary and two 7 cm cysts on my left ovary, they had to be surgically removed.

it's important that your doctor get's test done, especially an mri, this test allows the docs to see how big they are and if they are affecting your other organs.
