Last time i had a "eye exam" (if you call it that) was when i got my full license a year ago. Anyways, two days ago i was rubbing my let eye when i noticed it was blurry when i saw the text on my computer screen, so yes, it seems blurry i can read it if i try harder, but with my left eye i can see perfectly. I've never had to wear glasses in my life, though both my parents do, it's not that blurry, it really depends the time of the day. I dont know much about "eyes" so i don't know if it's something important i should get checked and get glasses.

SDP: If the blurriness is caused by a simple refractive error (meaning you need glasses) no harm will be done to your eyes by not wearing glasses; however, you should make an appointment with an optometrist for a thorough examination.

Many people don't need glasses until they're in their teens.

Well, I did say if the problem is caused by a refractive error. If it's caused by a different problem, all bets are off. You really should get it checked out. Then you can decide from there.

Don't get glasses no matter what. If you do, you're only setting yourself up to get blinder and blinder.

No you won't.

I'm sorry. I usually don't say anything if I disagree with someone, but that is just ridiculous. If you are having trouble seeing and you get a thorough vision exam from a qualified optometrist or ophthalmologist, who then decides that you have a refractive error, you need to get glasses or contacts! If you have a refractive error your vision is not going to get any better, with or without glasses! With or without them, your eyes will continue to change over the years. But if you have a refractive error that is big enough to bother you, and you are really having vision problems and you don't get glasses, you are just going to walk through life blind! (or at least, not seeing as clearly as you could be.) Yes, if you get glasses your eyes may come to depend on them over the years, but that's better than not being able to see! Plus, you could always choose to wear contacts or even to get LASIK if the doctor agrees. But we are all jumping the gun here, because you haven't even been to the eye doctor yet.

Of course, there are some other methods for improving your vision. You could do some sort of exercises, but that doesn't always work. I don't really know much about that though.

But please don't believe that you will go blind if you get glasses! I have had glasses since I was 7 years old (24 now) and I have had to get new prescriptions every few years because my eyes have changed, but I AM NOT GOING BLIND! And either are the milions of other people out there who wear glasses or contacts! It's not the glasses that will make you blind. It's your body that is changing. Glasses will just help you.

It can be a bit traumatic getting a first pair of glasses. It can feel like you are losing a part of your body or maybe like losing a part of who you are.

But having them for use does not mean you have to wear them all the time. At some point you may want to wear them all the time, but no one can make you do that. But if you are found to benefit from glasses, it seems it would be nice to have them on hand in case you want to see something.

Besides, it great fun picking out eyeglass frames.

im in agreement. If you can see "good enough" without glasses, dont get em! If your vision is already "bad" wear glasses for distance. Try not to wear glasses for reading and eating unless you have xtreme myopia and/or high astigmastim. Use the plus lense for reading.

My brother is 20/70 in left eye, 20/100 in the right and he hardly wears glasses. He does wear them to drive(required?) and sometimes to read the lectures on the board in college. His eyes as a result have hardly gotten worse. Hes overdue for another eye exam but from the looks of it, probably only gotten worse by about a half diopter in nearly 3 years. Mine and my sister's got much worse much faster cause we wore glasses all the time. I am trying to undo some of the damage by wearing weaker glasses
