I was perscribed Prozac 10MG for my social anxiety. So far my side effects are fast/loud heartbeat and being really sleepy, and maybe even more unable to relax. Also if i get up too quick my vision turns black for a few seconds. I've been taking it for a week so far.

I was wondering if anyone is on prozac or have tooken it? and their experiances with it.

Social Anxiety Disorder is not a proven biological brain disease or disorder so taking a drug for it may not be the answer. Prozac and other SSRI's can effect the nervous system, sleep and cardiovascular system in adverse ways. Serotonin itself is a vasoconstrictor (restricts blood flow by narrowing blood vessels) so too much isn't healthy although we need some for blood clotting. Serotonin is not made by intake of Prozac but the drug does prevent natural, proper metabolism of it. Serotonin is made from protein synthesis of the amino acid tryptophan. Carbohydrates and some vitamins convert the tryptophan into serotonin.

Eating more tryptophan foods like milk, walnuts, cottage cheese and fish with carbohydrate of you want more serotonin.

The issue of social anxiety may have other causes.
