Hi,
Could anyone tell me how much exercise is o.k. with Arrythmia please? have just been diagnosed and on medication but knew I had an irregular heartbeat for years without it ever being picked up on an ECG until I was sick in hospital and my heart acted up which was a good thing in reality.
I have always exercised and over the years because I thought I was so fit and well just kept exercising when the heart beat very fast - my Specialist says start slow but wondered how much is o.k. when we have always been told to get the heart beat up every day to keep fit. I am not sure what exercise is good and what is bad now and should I just not exercise (I know this would be hard for me and probably in the long run also detremental to my health) but it is hard to know just what to do. How do others manage with Arrythmia?
Thanks
Kay

I have a similar problem to you. My heart rate is not abnormal but it is rather fast in the 90's at rest. When i excersize it quickly rises to over 160 bpm and does not go down sometimes until hours on end. I think the best thing for you to do is to talk to your physician about enrolling in a fitness aerobics class at a local gym and attend it 2-3 times a week. This should strengthen your heart and even prevent future heart problems. I dont think you should ever quit excersising because this will most likely add to your problems in the future.

I also have arrhythmias as to were my heart rate hits 200's. I workout at least try to workout 3 times a week for an hour at the local gym. I have about 30 cardio adn 30 minutes weight lifting for my program. I do 10 cardio, then weights, then 10 cardio till my program is finished. You need to talk to your doctor as to what he thinks would be sutible for you and if he suggest a gym make sure someone there is capable of setting a good tailored program to suit your needs. Other than that it will be learn by trial and error.

It depends what kind of arrhythmia you have. What were you diagnosed with?
