Let me explain, a few nights ago I had eaten some pretty salty chips and dinner with lots of salt. I went to bed with my heart pounding really hard and shortness of breath. I could not sleep at all until daylight the next morning, just falling into a nightmare. I felt really weak and tired that whole day and haven't felt the same since. It's been two days now. And I also had a bad headache that night. I had a little pain in the chest, but seemed like it was more on my right side.
Being a woman, could this of been a mild heart attack or something that could of happened that I should get checked for?
Is being so sensitive to salt mean that something is wrong with my heart?

Sounds more like anxiety attack or GERD. If it recurs often, it would be prudent to see a general practitioner, just to rule out fears...

I have the same symptoms as you if I consume too many carbohydrates, especially at night. In my case, it isn't the salt that gives me the breathing problems and heart pounding, it is the excess calories.
Were you able to check your blood pressure during the time that you were experiencing these problems?

No, I have the same reaction to salt (and it happens when I eat too many carbs, too). It doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with your heart. Just drink lots of water when you eat salty food, and try not to eat too much salt in the first place.

I don't remember feeling dizzy that night, but the days afterwards I've been feeling lighted headed and falling to one side a lot. My limbs and body feeling really heavy.
I did feel a little sweaty that night. My poor heart was really thumping.
I do have anxiety also. And I did have jaw and neck pain, but having tmj with stress may have caused that to act up.
I didn't get any numbness at all.
My cholesteral is usually normal and blood pressure tends to be normal. I'll be getting a blood test soon, still have the prescription to get that done sitting on the table.
I'll let you know, thanks for your help!
