All I have done so far is, bought 2 gun locks. They use a key, and when I have a chance to put them on, I will keep the keys. I doubt my dad will ever notice, unless they do decide to give them to the only grandson. Thanks again for the previous advice. Take care. Wannabe LuvMyLilDoggie 08-09-2005, 07:51 PM Don't know how I missed that! DUHHH!!! :D Thanks for filling me in! Love, Barb ToBeFreeToRoam 08-09-2005, 08:59 PM Hi Barb and Sally, I talked to my DH, DDs and yall. My daughters said it would hurt my dads feelings if he found out I just took them (his 2 guns). And my mother...She would have went ballistic! She would think I was trying to take over their life and take all their stuff. She just has these problems. She wants to be independent (my dad does not, so much). Plus, I know she loves me and my sister, but she always thinks we want all her stuff - which most of it is not that great! We (my sister and I) each wrote them a letter, in trying to get them to do the POA, and mainly said how much we loved them and only cared about what was best for them. We also said, all we wanted to do was help them. We also told them that if they did not hurry and do the POA, it would cost them more $ and it would be handled by the courts and people they did not know. I think that helped push my mother along, as she is acting like she might actually do the POA!!! Dad just does not really understand it all. I do not think he actually knows what is going to happen to him?! So, someone - maybe it was my DH who told me about the gun locks. I went to Academy (a sporting goods store), and bought 2. They did not cost too much. There are all different priced ones - depending on the quality. I have not had a chance to put them on lately. I do plan to do that secretly - my mom and her not wanting interference more than is absolutely necessary. She would not want me in the closet, looking at all their stuff!!! Maybe next time my husband comes or my sister, I can achieve this goal! No wonder you did not notice this statement Barb, it was only in a thread about pets!!! And notice, how I stuck in the stuff about the POA on this thread?! Yall take care. Wannabe |
