I have had chalazions on my left eye for 7 months now and just recieved my 4th surgery early this morning. I have read everything and totally understand what a chalazion is and what usually causes them and their reoccurence. I recently read an article that tanning without the goggles can cause chalazions and also bring them back from previously being dormant. I was wondering if anyone had heard this also, b/c I have tanned once a week without the use of goggles and been in the sun often. I would like to try to solve my chronic chalazion problems along solve others if they have any questions for myself. I am not a doctor obviously but I can give some great advice with as many chalazions I have had and the severity of them also. Any replies would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to get opinions from someone else than my opth.

I too have had issues with 'things' growing on my eyelids. I started with various surgical procedures and lazering, and then I finally met with a doctor who told me to use a warm compress and wash my eyelids with baby shampoo and q-tips. She said that my oil glands were producing too much oil. Also, I have rosacea, and that contributes. Hope this helps, you might want to try this and see if you notice an improvement. I sure have.

Thanks for the response SVAinVA. So, you have heard of chalazions occuring due to not wearing the goggles during indoor tanning...? Thanks for the response, I have tried everything and nothing has helped except surgery. I just do not want to have these the rest of my life off and on. That would be a relief though if you have heard of that cause of problems b/c then I atleast know what I was doing wrong.
Thanks

As mentioned earlier I had chalazion surgery yesterday. I have been experiencing dry eye and puss still coming out from my eyelid. Has anyone also had this surgery and is able to relate with my post-surgery reactions??
Thanks

The opthamologist that I have been seeing is part of a practice that is considered one of the best in the United States. I believe he is "good", I dont know the definition of being a "great" doctor though. I feel a second opinion is needed b/c these chalazions are very annoying, especially for a college student, and I want to get them resolved after a 6-7 month battle with them.
