My best friend who i'll just call jon, has just told me he has prostate cancer. He is young and it is such a sock for me. I dont know what to do b/c he's in this mind set like oh well it was gonna happen nothing i can do. It's so frustrating for me to watch him smoke and drink and not take care of him self. I talked to him about looking into natural medicine and getting into a healthier diet, just educating himself on the problem and doing everything to make sure hat he's doing his part to get better. He just wants to ignore it and laugh it off. I havent told him how i feel and i have been supportive and havent talked about it just to respect his wishes but it's getting ridiculous!!! how can i get him to startcaring about his life and his body. And start taking care of himself so he can beat this. Any suggestions would be greatly apprechiated!! thanx

Hi Tigerbabe,

Make sure he is going to a urologist or oncologist for treatment of the cancer. If not, offer to go with him for support. There are all sorts of prostate cancer treatments. There is watchful waiting (if the cancer is not too far along), radiation, seed radiation, total operation (removal of prostate) and hormone therapy. Probably more also. Make sure he is getting something done. Putting it off is just going to make it worse and him feel worse.

Hope you can talk to him and help him. Take care and Good Luck. Wannabe
