Hey All!!!

I got some GREAT NEWS yesterday morning about 8:45am, A lady from the Social Security Adminiatration called and said that my appeal for my SSD had been approved, I don't get as much a month as I do from LTD, but my LTD company said they will make up the difference. The difference is about $475 less then what I am getting from LTD a month, but LTD will give me the $475 a month to make up for it...Now I can qualify for Medicare, after 2 years, and Medicad Health Insurance, that is after 1 year of being disabled, but that goes back to the first date I was disabled, so next month will be my year and I will be eligible for the Medicad Health Insurance, plus from what I have been told, being on SSD I qualify for many other programs to help with medical stuff, and other bills, etc...To be totally honest I didn't think I would get approved, I got denied the first time I applied, then the second time I got an attorney to represent me and do all the leg work and I think that is what helped me get approved on my appeal, I was also told by several other that it also would take like 2, 3, maybe even 5 years to get an answer about this and it actually only took like several months... So I am very happy...I had to give my attorney 25% of my backpay, they paid me backpay back to Sept. 2004...So I got a pretty good chunk... I will get my deposit in my bank within the next 10 days....Will be my backpay plus my first months pay, I think.... so I am extremely happy, this takes such a load off mine and my partners minds, Seeing how we are also in the process of buying the house we are living in...So this is gonna help so much... Hope All of you a doing ok.... and I hope we can all be pain free someday...

Take Care........

I am curious how a person even begins to find out about qualifying. How do you know how much a month you get?

go to www.ssa.gov and you can obtain your social security report from their web site.It details your earnings and what you would get if you became disabled. You should already be getting this info every year in the mail if you have ever worked or are currently working.i started getting these a few years ago.my husband just got his updated one in the mail last week. The website will also tell you about how to start the application process. It will be a wait though just so you know.

Congratulations TWR,When i got that same phone call back in dec of last year it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my sorry shoulders.we were in deep medical dept and on the verge of possibly losing our home,What a christmas present THAT was, lol.Marcia

A huge congratualtions to you, TWR! My husband received good news yesterday, himself. Last month he received word from his atty that a favorable on the record decision had been reached but there was a chance the LTD company was going to appeal for an earlier date of onset. Well, the LTD company has accepted the date from SSDI so it looks like the benefits are a go. It's been a 3 year battle! It will still take a few more months to see the payments, tho. We have 3 dependents that will help us to get enough of a monthly benefit to get out from under the LTD company.

Time for us all to celebrate!

I am VERY happy for you! Getting there sucks but once you do, how great it feels! I never did hear back from SS when I filed but doesn't really matter, I went back to work April 1.
Anyway, glad things finally turned around for you!
