Did your daughter gain much weight with her pregnancy? I gained 40 lbs with both of mine and they are now 22 and going on 19. Being pregnant is one factor leading to carpal tunnel. Being overweight is another factor (baby wt. included). Overuse of hands is another. I type, I sew and I used to take shorthand years ago. She might not get over carpal tunnel or she might, but it would come back later in life. Is it bad? Mine was like this just before I had the operation. Thumb, pointer and middle finger always felt sprained. I had to wear a splint over night and when driving. If I held my hand up in the air for more than about 3 seconds, pain would set in quickly. I started dropping things like crazy. No strenghth at all. Maybe your daughter has a mild case? You know you are ready for surgery when you say, enough! I can't take this anymore.
