View Full Version : Is this arthritis or is it normal?

About a year ago when I was 20, my left elbow started clicking when I extend it, and has continued to do so, though it rarely gets sore and doesnt interfere with anything.

I practice karate so I do a lot of punching. I was wondering if I could have damaged my elbow joint slightly or caused a very mild case of arthritis? Or is it perfectly normal for a joint to start to click even at age 20 when it hasnt done before?

My Father has arthritis in his hip but no other family member has. :bouncing:

I am sorry you haven't gotten a response yet. I don't have an answer, but I have knees that started cracking in my 20's. I now have Osteoarthritis in them. I do not know if the 2 things are related or not, but if your are starting to be bothered by it, you may want to see a Rheumy.

Good luck,

Lorie

Hi,
My rheumy told me that it is the ligament in the wrong spot and it cracks when it goes back in place just because it makes the sound which sounds like it should it hurt it doesnt hurt the ligament is just going back where it should be. My husbands elbows do it all the time because he over extends them with his work. It is the same thing as cracking knuckles doesnt mean you will get arthritis.
Hope that helps
Olivia
