Hello everyone, I have had brain fog for the past few months (since October to be exact). I went for a bunch of tests to try to figure out what is wrong with me but all the tests came back with nothing. Finally a doctor recently sent me for allergy tests and as it turns out I am allergic to my cat. I only started petting my cat and playing around with her since around October-ish, so my question is whether or not this allergy can cause me to have brain fog (dream-like state)? I have no other symptoms except that my ears have been blocked. I dunno if this makes any sense. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you,
Nadia.

I don't know the answer to this but I suffer from the same thing. I feel more lightheaded and off balance and just feel weak. My ears also feel clogged at times.
I started using Flonase and these symptoms seem to have lessened a bit. I hope that there are others out there that can reassure us.

hey, yeah I started using Flonase also, its been the second day already. So far nothing but I'll just have to wait and see...also, I'm going back to the ear specialist. Again, I'll just have to wait and see...I'll let you know what happens.
Thanks for the reply.

Yep, your sinuses have become overly sensitive and air is getting up into your sinus cavities causing the brain fog.

I had a major problem with brain fog and discussed this with my doctor; he was neither helpful nor understanding. I am sensitive to smoke, soap/fragrance dust mold and freeway smog, especially heavy exhaust at red lights/intersections. My brain fog was intermittent and lasted, on-and-off, for several years. I believe that now I have dramatically improved my condition.
First I dried up the house by installing dehumidifiers and a window AC and now I watch the humidity gauge daily (40 - 50% is fine). A $25 gauge is available at Radio shack. I have two large HEPA filters going nonstop. And most important I removed the wet sheetrock from the basement and went with plain-Jane latex painted cinder-block walls and white ceramic tile on the downstairs floor which totally dried up and cleaned up the mold issue that I was living with. Also at work we had a major mold problem as I work in a moldy-skank-assed 1960's building at 3M whereby management denied any problem despite years of employee complaints. 3M finally fixed the roof and HVAC system and the mold smell went away; imagine that!
Also I changed my diet ... I eat a semi-raw breakfast and lunch everyday... raw oatmeal with raison bran and fruit for breakfast and for lunch raw kale, broccoli, carrots, beets and other in a totally fresh & healthy salad (no iceberg lettuce)
Running, biking, and intense cardio workouts helped also as they totally
drain your sinuses. It worked for me... good luck.

Hi Johnny,
Well, my brain-fog started in October and has not gone away since...not even for a second. It is almost as if I am stuck this way. I just recently went for allergy tests and found out that I am allergic to my cat which I have had forever. But I never used to touch my cat or play around with her until about October, I started petting her and picking her up...and then this started around the same time. Since I have found out, I have not touched my cat and if I have to pick her up I wash my hands right away. I have been using flonase now for about a week and nothing has been better...I am going back to my ear specialist next tuesday and hopefully he could help me furthur. I can't keep living like this. But had your brain fog gone away???
Thanks for writting...

YES!YES!YES.. allergies can definitely cause "brain fog."
As a matter of fact, I was at the allergy doctor today getting my ***** test. I asked about this because I also have the brain/head/heavy fog feeling. He told me it is a direct correlation with allergies. It's histamines floating in your blood stream.
I've had this feeling for about a year- which happened to coincide with my allergies. I just found out today I am allergic to over 50 outdoor things from grasses, trees, weeds, etc..
I don't know if it helps to know the cause of it, but it seemed to relieve my concerns.

Anyway, that's the type of test I had today. ROFL
