Hello All!
I am pretty healthy normal 26 yr old male. On 07/14/05 I went in to the Hospital with sever stomach cramps. After 2 CAT scans and a Colonoscopy I was diagnosed with having Ischemic Colitis. The GI Dr. put me on 2400 mg of Asacol and 1500 mg of Flagyl. A couple days later I started experienceing some weird symptoms. I felt disoriented, couldnt focus on my computer screen at work and headaches and sensitivity to light but most important changes in my vision, mainly trails. If i were to look at a lit ceiling and move my hand i would see a trail which kind of look liked the heat waves that come off the pavement on a hot day. Then once I stopped moving my hand the image would catch up to my hand. I was convinced it was from the Asacol. So my GP told me to stop taking the Asacol. So I did. A week went by and I still saw the trails. So I went to see an opthamologist and he said my vision was perfectly fine. Went back to my Gp and he said it was due to Stress and anxiety. Which I do have Anxiety disorders that I take xanax for. So he referred me to a psychiatrist to be put on something that would be more longer term help for anxiety. He prescribed me Lexapro which I have been on for 5 days and I am still experiencing the weird vision problems. I have convinced my self that something is seriously wrong.
Can these visual problems be from anxiety or the xanax or is something else really worng? This has made my life a living hell. Ive had to take a week off of work because it is all I think about. Any feedback would help greatly!
