Okay....I'm 12 years old, i'm really mature for my age. I weigh 280lbs as far as i know..it's been a REAL long time since i've weighed myself. When I stepped on that scale I was scared cause i knew that i was really bad. I never really ate fatty foods or anything. Now, I'm in 7th grade and i was just surfing all the sites thinking about becoming a vegetarian or anerexic. I know it's a real big step. But i have to do something. I haven't eaten hamburgar for a very LONG time, reason to a nasty disection. I always look at magazines and i see things like what to do when you are a vegetarian, and things not to do. Then they have tips of loosing weight. I really want to go extreme. I don't just want 15 pounds here and there. I want to loose it all. You know what i mean? I am looking still to find information about loosing weight and still maintaining a healthy body. I don't want to be like dying or anything from loosing too much weight. I just really need some help. This has taken my life too far. I'm real scared, of what is going to happen to me in the future. I don't want to end up being one of those people that can't even fit out of their doorways. I just don't want that. I dont know what to do. Please if you know anything that will help me.

you should start by discussing with your doctor...there may be some other issues besides diet here and because of your age, you are still maturing and growing and nutrients are vERY important for you body.
get to a doctor and they should be able to recommend what would be a good start for you.
good luck to you.

Crazed doesn't seem to be joking. Anorexia is not a diet plan. It's deliberate starvation and it can do irreparable damage to your body and even kill you. Vegetarianism isn't _exactly_ a weight loss regimen, but it can be so long as you dont think that 7 Layer Burritos are healthy because they have no meat. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif I definitely agree that you should see a doctor or dietician and try to increase activity in the mean time. Go for walks, try rollerblading, biking... anything to get the blood moving and get your body's furnace hot and ready to burn calories. Good Luck!

there are some great books on vegetarian diets and by diets I don't mean to lose, but how to be one and ensure you are getting enough protein because if you don't you fall into the carbohydrate overload a lot of times...that could be what you are dealing with here is too many carbohydrates.and not getting enough protein..so you need to balance out your eating plan to include a good range of fruits veggies, proteins and carbs...but not too many of any of them...
AGAIN I really want to stress your AGE here...first of all Good For YOU for wanting to work on this but DO NOT deprive your body of what it needs to grow....or you will find as you get older the abuse will come out..you may have a hard time keeping healthy nice hair...you might fight bone problems...the list goes on and on so just keep in mind YOU also are not done growing in height either, so you don't want to stunt that with malnutrtion...but you are a smart girl...cause you are here so you will do this the right way and reach your goal and find happiness I am betting. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
good for you.!

HUN NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT THINK THAT ANOREXIA WILL MAKE ANYTHING BETTER. IT WILL ONLY MAKE IT WORSE. I DID THAT WHEN I WAS ONLY 13 I DID IT FOR QUITE AWHILE AND THAT WAS 7 YEARS AGO. WHEN YOU CONSTANTLY THROW UP IT TEARS YOUR ASAPHAGUS(HOWEVER YOU SPELL THAT) AND SOON YOU WILL START THROWING BITS OF IT AND BLOOD. YOU WILL ALSO TAKE THE NUTRIENTS FORM YOUR BODY. YOUR HAIR WILL GET NASTY LOOKING, YOUR NAILS BRITTLE AND YOU WILL START GROWING HAIR ON YOUR ARMS LEGS AND FACE. BELIEVE ME IT IS NOT A PRETTY SIGHT. I HOPE YOU FIND ANOTHER WAY AND GOOD LUCK.

Well here's the bad news but the truth! The only way to lose weight is to combine a healthy diet ( i'll explain later ) and exercise! We all know that exercising is hard, but once you follow your goal, which takes discipline, it get's easy, almost like a lifestyle habit. Don't be discouraged, I went through the same thing you did, I gained weight non stop, I dieted, I starved myself and nothing worked! The more I dieted, the more I gained weight. Why? Because your body tries to adjust to all the diets and suffers, thinking it is in danger.....what happens? It stores fat to protect itself! So....what you HAVE to do is exercise, three times per week is good, and eat sensibly, which means, try to eat alot of fruit for breakfast, big lunch, and smaller dinner. Try to eat the high calorie foods you love in the afternoon rather than at night time, it's just a question of managing your eating habits! I promise that if you follow my advice you will lose alot of weight....I lost 60 pounds! It was really hard at first, but when I ran on the tread mill, all I thought about was how much happier I would be when i'd have my dream body...... try to motivate yourself! When you see the first couple pounds come off, you'll feel an overall happiness and that will help you to continue.
Don't diet, don't starve yourself, you're too young to do that, and you'll damage your body forever if you do. Now's the perfect time to change your lifestyle, before you get stuck in your habits! Good luck!

At 12 years old look on the bright side - you have age to your advantage! Don't stop eating. My son is 18 and was over 200 lbs until 1.5 years ago- he's now 155. I lost 50 lbs too. How did we do it?
First, we added excercise. Do you have any bike/ski/rowing machine at home, Maybe ask your folks to get one if not. Put it in front of the TV. Do you have a dog to take for walks?
Second, how much are you eating in sugars? Cakes, candy, twizzlers, sugary breakfast cereal, etc. Do you drink soda and juices - these have lots of sugar! Low or No-Fat cakes are loaded up with sugar by those people at the factory trying to make it taste good. This 'food' can make you fatter than the hamburger!! Some of us can't take the sugars at all. Sugary stuff will make you hungry sooner too.
You can get 'better sugar' from grapes, bananas, apples, and other fruits. Are there any veggies you like?
You will lose weight this way. Just don't starve yourself! This will only hurt you! Take care and let us know.
