Can chronic tonsilitis spead to other areas of the body? I have had this for 5 years now.

If you have chronic strep infection....then I would be concerned since strep can cause other health ailments.
When your tonsils are constantly enlarged, I would think the body's immune system is fatigued....like being constantly in high gear.
I would suggest you consider getting your tonsils out.
Just curious, what other health problems are you having now that you think is related to chronic tonsilitis?

I went to an ENT doctor and he diagnosed me with it. I'm glad you said that, I do feel fatigued every day. I am scheduled to have me tonsil's and adenoids out on the 25th of this month.

Hi....great news about getting them out. Are you on any antibiotics at this time?
I'm wondering if taking some supplements might help you get your immune system back in order. I have a friend recently who has been talking about glutathione...it might be something you could check into.
As well, what about vitamin C, beta carotene, zinc, B's and calcium with magnesium and vitamin D.
Are there any specific things (aside from aspirin) that you have to avoid before your surgery?
I'm sure recovery will be painful, but the end result will be worth it. (I haven't had tonsils out -- wish I did when I was younger because I get tonsil stones -- but have read and known many who never regretted it)
