I have had terrible pain in my upper abdomen for over a year, figured i had an ulcer, have already been treated for h-pylori. also during this time i have lost about 30 pounds without trying, i eat anything and as much as i want to .yesterday the pain was so intense i thought i was going to die, so i went to the emergency room, was given a g.i. cocktail and it made the pain worse.the doctor took some lab work and everthing was normal so he said i just have an ulcer. just wanted to know if any one else has had pain like this with weight loss and what they have found out. my gallbladder has also been removed already.

Hi kathicoker,

Since, you have already had some of the other tests and stuff done or taken out - I think you need to go to a gastro dr. (if you have not already). He needs to do a upper endoscopy and maybe a lower colonoscopy. That is the only/best way to tell if you have an ulcer and/or other stomach problems.

I have had bad pain. It was in my middle chest and the middle of my back. It felt like a heart attack. I have gerd, gastritis, hiatal hernia and esophageal varieces and also a non-cancerous polyp in my stomach. My doctor gave me Nexium and sucralfate. Also, for breakthru indigestion, I take Pepcid Complete and/or Zantac in the afternoon or evening. I have not lost any weight!

Hope you feel better soon. Take care. Wannabe

I have been having some bad pain in between my rib cages--more to the left side. I also get a burning sensation in my stomach as well. I am assuming it is probably an ulcer. I am getting tested for H. Pylori tomorrow by the breath test. I have gastritis that doesn't seem to be responding with PPI's.
Like the other person said you should have an endoscopy done to check your stomach for anything like ulcers, gastritis, etc.
