I find it hard to believe that ear pressure has anything to do with allergies although my family doctor said that it could. Has anyone experienced ear pressure with allergies or even in the allergy season? I was also told that I have a slight bit of fluid in that same ear but nothing to worry about. Ummm, I'm no doctor but fluid of any amount just doesn't go away does it? :wave: Thanks for your help everyone!!!

Yes ear pressure can be related to allergies, just like sinus pressure can.
My allergies cause my ears to feel full a lot.

I can sympathize with you. I get ear pressure with my allergies too. I have been told that I had fluid in my ears several times but when there is no infection, doctors will not prescribe any anitibiotics. I wonder how much damage is done by fluid buildup in people's ears. Will it affect my hearing down the road?
My ears sometimes feel as if they are plugged up and I can't hear well. It's horrible. When I mentioned it to my chiropractor, she adjusted my ears and it seemed to help with drainage.
Are you taking any allergy medications? I had one doctor put me on a prescription w/pseudofenidrine (sp?). It made me so jumpy and I couldn't sleep at night. I had to stop taking it. It was supposed to help dry everything up but I did not like it.
Since I started taking Allegra and allergy shots a few months ago, my ears don't bother me nearly as much.

How do you get your ears adjusted? Was it a temp fix? Yes, I take claritin every day. I still have post nasal drainage though so, I don't know what else to do. Doctors don't know either, they just treat ya like a guinna pig and say "try this"...brother!

For me it is both ears.
You need to ask for an RX for Allegra or Zyrtec. Claritin doesn't work for alot of people.

Do you get an unbalanced feeling when your ears are full? I do and it drives me crazy. it is really bad this year.

i have allergies really bad and i have fluid behind my ear and it made my ear drum extract(suck in) so i stay lightheaded all the time my doc gave me claritin and told me to get some mucsinex pills not sure if thats the correct spelling but its pills for mucus and it will take the fluid out so try that

I guess the ear adjustment is a temporary fix because I have had the fluid in my ears several times. It doesn't cure it or keep it from reoccuring, but it does help with the symptoms for a while and doesn't require more medication. The chiropractor sort pulls on your ears and you can hear a pop. She claims it helps with the drainage and it seems to work for me. Good luck!
I used to take Claritan also, but after time it didn't work as well for me. I went to an allergy specialist who was a much better help than my regular doctor. I was told to be careful with filling prescriptions for Allegra or Zyrtec. Some drug plans don't want to cover them because they are more expensive. So you have to make certain that your doc knows and documents that the Claritan no longer works for you.
I also take a nasal spray called Rhinocort (used to take Flonase but my allergist says he likes Rhinocort better) and that seems to help with a lot of the pressure/drainage as well.
One post mentioned taking Mucinex. That is an OTC version of the product that I was given for ear pressure/fluid. The psuedophenidrine in those products makes me too jumpy. And I've heard you shouldn't take psuedophenidrine if you have high blood pressure.

FYI OTC Mucinex does NOT have psuedophenidrine. Just the Guaifenesin, which thins mucus.

I suffered with ear aches, ear pressure, being off balance and ear popping for months. I was shocked to hear it was all from my allergies. Singulair really helped me. It took one week for it to kick in though. The only time I have trouble with my ears now is when a storm is getting ready to come in. I'm a human barometer!

It helped me for the post nasal drip when I change my Claritin to Claritin D, I get a very dry mouth but it beats the drip and nasty taste.
