I've been having this problem for a couple of months now. It usually happens when I go from a sitting positon to standing but not always. Its evened happened sometimes after I've been up and moving around for awhile. Everything starts to go kinda black, I get this pressure in my head and feel heart palpitations. It only lasts a few seconds and then it goes away.
I also suffer from anxiety/panic attacks and allergies. I've told my GP about this and he seems to think its related to anxiety/panic. I've had my heart checked out back in January and everything was fine. I've seen an ENT who found nothing wrong but I'm currently seeing another one for a second opinion. So far he agrees with the first ENT though.
Has anyone else ever had this happen or have any ideas what it could be? It doesn't happen all the time but usually at least once a day or every other day and like I said, it only lasts a few seconds and is gone. I can live with it if its nothing serious but of course my anxiety goes really high when it happens and I tend to worry about it excessively.....

With your anxiety problems, you are probably not breathing in a normal pattern to begin with. When you get up from a sitting position, a lot of people experience this same sensation - it's simply a change in blood pressure as you change your position. I would be that the better you are able to control your anxieties, the fewer the symptoms you will experience. Anxiety takes a terrible toll on the body.

I get palpitations also and lightheaded first thing in the morning. My cardiologist says that if blood pressure drops the body increases its adrenaline which can cause palpitations. I think breathing can affect blood pressure. Stand slowly and try taking in a couple of deep breaths.
