I know you can go to a doctor and have them removed but it's costly and I'd like to just do it myself in the privacy of my own home. Are there any effective over-the-counter treatments you can buy or home rememdies? What do you suggest? Thanks.

I know I had one on my neck and picked it off..it bled and got scared for my thyroid then swelled...it was nothing but a reaction but got me scared.
This was when I was pregnant with my first and 19..now 35 and I still got skin tags and if I knew a way of removing them without reactions or having them spread by picking one I would let you know.

I recently had one removed, they literally just cut it off with a pair of scissors. Of course, they cleaned the area. It just stung a little. I was told by the nurse, they can numb them prior to cutting it. If mine was any larger, she said they would have numbed the area. Some people can take the sting and do not get the numbing to the area done. All in all it is just extra skin. If they are small enough to cut off, just make sure you use surgical scissors and make sure the area is clean., Then, stick a bandaid over it. Mine was under my double d breast! OOOOOOUCH!
