Hi All,
I'm scheduled for a right thryoid lobectomy this week and now I have a painful sore throat from silent acid reflux due to LPR which I have been battling with for 8 months now. I take Nexium 40 mg twice a day. I was feeling pretty good and like a dummy I tried to go off of Nexium and see what happens after 6 months of taking the med. Lo and behold a horrible sore throat two days ago and my throat and neck are killing me. Now I'm concerned about surgery when they put down the endotracheal tube whether this will further aggravate the swelling and pain and/or cause problems. I will call the surgeon tomorrow about it. Has anyone had any kind of surgery with pre-existing LPR? How did the anesthesiologist handle it?
