Had my GB out in 1983. Currently having gallstone type pain. Had ultrasound, xray and lab work to no avail. Been to doctor 4 times in past week (ER twice!!). A nurse-friend suggested that we continue to manufacture stones in our livers and they can get stuck in the bile duct. Don't know if that is true. I am currently taking some herbs and vitamins to cleanse my liver and some pills that my naturopath gave me for gallbladder. Nothing has helped and I still hurt. Can anyone please shed some light? I am tired of hurting.

Hello there..I also had my gallbladder out 7 yrs ago. I recently started having pain in my right side under my rib. My docter thought it might be a duedenal ulcer. He gave my Aciphex for 30 days. He said most ulcers clear up within 30 days with medication. I do have occasionally have Acid Reflux. Hope this helps. Take care :)

Not that this helps at all but I had my gallbladder out a month ago and ever since I've still had "attacks." They have done all sorts of tests on me and still don't know what it is. I have been to the ER and the drs keep dolling out the painkillers like I'm a junkie. I just want to know what is wrong. If you have a stone in the bile duct they should be able to tell that from a HIDA scan, I believe. They did that procedure on me and said I do not have a retained stone. If you get any ideas as to this mystery illness let me know.

OK...two different situations....long term...yes, you can still get stones as they leave a bile duct to take the place of the gallbladder. Short term...what are you eating? If you are back on a standard diet after just one month, you should be having pain. The bile duct has not settled in yet and is not able to keep up with the digestion. Also, you will have at least twinges periodically for some time as it tries to get working properly. I had mine out in Feb and still have a twinge or two every now and then but it certainly is not as bad as before! And I'm back on a regular diet now....hope all this helps.

I had mine out emergency surgery in 2002 and I swear it seems like I'm still dealing with issues relating the organ that no longer lives in my body. The most recent one is pressure/pain in my right upper quadrant it almost feels like I have a baseball inside, I especially feel it when I lay on my stomach. I usually get severe stomach pains after eating regardless of what it is. GI put me on welchol which has helped some, but I still get stomach pain often and I'm always tired. I also have menstrual issues that are going on along with this so it's hard to determine if A is causing B. I had an ultrasound that showed an enlarged common bile duct (cbc) which is supposedly normal for people who have had gallbladder removal. I also had a colonoscopy to rule out crohn's and other bowel disease. He is testing me now for celiac and some others and if they come back normal he will diagnose me with IBS. So anyway, you are definetly not the only one dealing with the organ that's gone but certainly not forgotten. Let me know how you make out...maybe it can shed some light on what I'm dealing with. By the way, my right pressure just started about 6 months ago constantly, but I dealt with on and off pain and pressure since the surgery. Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon.

Did a liver flush for mild fatty liver feel great

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did my 2nd liver flush on saturday night and feel alot less pressure in all parts of my body and iam going to continue these flushes intill nothing comes out anymore heres the way it was done ----start out with milk thistle tabs and malic acid tabs the week before and take every day but dont take the day of the flush, then the day before drink plenty of apple juice organic fresh pressed about 1/2 a gallon then the day of the flush dont eat anything after 2pm ------then 6pm drink fresh squeezed grapefruit juice 4oz strain the pulp with 1 tablespoon of epsom salt ----then repeat at 8pm -----at 10pm drink 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil cold pressed with 1/2 cup of that fresh sqeezed grapefruit juice no pulp and go right to bed lay on your right side possibly with heating pad and when you wake up the next day do 1 more epson salt drink and look for the green and yellow balls come out when you go to the bathroom and thats your liver getting clean ..........good luck this is not a cure for everyone and should be done with care and take responsibility for your health...there is no pain when you exalt these stones!!!

Just want to add my 2 cents worth also. I had my surgery about 6 years ago and have just recently started having the same problems you all have mentioned. Has anyone found out anything? I wake up every morning very nauseated.
Hope to hear from someone.

After I had my gall bladder out about 10 years ago, a year after that I started having the same symptoms as an attack. My gasto doctor did a procedure called an ERCP and cleaned out my bile ducts and removed some left over stones. So yes, you still can have a stone in your bile ducts.
