not so good. It's only been 48 hours and the doc said give intil this coming Wednesday...my son says he's noticed really no pain relief and it seems to have made his pain worse.
He has the Medtronic Inter-stim because of where his pain is...anyone out there experience these things not working for a couple days then giving pain relief? This was a whole lot of physical discomfort, stress and heaven knows how much it's gonna cost...the med pump is next.
For thhose of you that have a med pump: how long were you in hospital? How long before you noticed pain relief? What meds/cocktails are common for successful pain relief? I've read stories about alarm failure, stuff like that, what are the other problems with these devices? Can one ever look forward to being pain free or is one "married" to them?
Help!

Hi CD, I had my SCS removed after acouple of monthsmy leads would not stay inplace even a few days after the implant they had oved I had a hard time getting the dr to x-ray and check them but sure enough that was the problem and then we did a revision and the fell again, I folllowed all the restritions like I was ordered because this was so imprtant to me we hav no idea why my leads would not stay in place they just wouldn't..
You might isist on having them ck. the leads because he should be getting relief right away.
Right now I'm in the middle of trying all kinds of meds to control my nerve pain but so far all I'm getting is nasty side effects, the next thing wil be the pain pump and like you I'm not really to keen on the idea for a lot of different reasons.
By the way the implant cost me 32 grand and I'm not sure yet how much the revision and removal cost but I am very fortuante as my ins. paid 100%.You are so right though about the stress and all..
Let me know how it goes with your son.
Linda
