Hi. I am new here, and I dont know exactly how this works, but I guess I will just give it the best shot I can.
My friend was asking me about her problem with body hair, and I didn't know what to tell her, so I figured that I would ask people who might know. That would be all of you. She doesn't like talking about it, and I dont either really cause its kinda embarassing to talk about, but I'm just going to be frank. If I am too descriptive, I apologize.
She got bored the other day I guess and noticed that she has a lot of hair. She says so anyways, I dont see the problem. She says its dark and everything, and it doesn't run in her family. She says shes got hair everywhere. In other words:
*toes
*legs
*stomach (happy trail)
*neck
*back
****
*..........inside her *** (embarassing part)
*nipples
*arms
*hands

........anywhere that you can think of I guess. I mean, I feel sorry for her cause she has very low self esteem because of this, and I think that she is a great person.
I dont know what to tell her. What do you think she should do? Is this normal for girls to have? Should she be worried? See a doctor? What? I am just really worried about her cause she has been getting really depressed because of it lately.

 Can you please help?

You can tell her that she may have a condition called PCOS (policystic ovarian syndrome) that might be the cause of so much hair. This can be treated going to an endocrinologist. That's what I would say.

It sounds pretty normal to me, as long as the hair isn't really thick like a man's. Women with dark hair often have more noticeable hair in all of the places you mentioned. Also, certain ethnicities tend to have more body hair than others. She could also have high testosterone levels. Even though it's unfortunately socially unacceptable for women to have body hair, it is normal to an extent.

you mentioned that it doesn't run in her family so i take it that it is not normal for her ethnicity. ladivapro02 may be right about the pcos thing. it may be hormonal. if it is hormal, then she probably gets her period infrequently and/or have acne. she should go see a doctor and the doctor can run some tests. if it turns out to be hormonal, there are several options for treating this. spirolactone is a medication that can be used to treat this. it works by blocking androgens. spiro is sometimes prescribed with yasmin birth control pill. another birth control pill that is known to be effective is diane-35. however it is not available in the U.S. These hormonal treatments are temporary and takes a long time to see results. it doesn't get rid of the hair that is already there. she can try different methods of hair removal. most of them are very annoying. who wants to shave their entire body every single day? waxing is time consuming and expensive. i hated my sideburns so i opted so laser hair removal. six sessions and $600 later, they are gone. my next area is my navel.

most women have hair on their body. we are so accustomed to seeing hairless models and celebrities. we don't realize that the pictures are touched up and these ladies spend tons of money getting waxed and lasered. i saw a special on E. celebrities get their hairline and napes lasered so that when they put their hair up for those award shows, they will have nice clean updos.

i used to think i was odd because i had hair on my navel. but one day a lady i worked with lifted her shirt to show a temporary tattoo. she had a thick tuft of hair covering her navel. it was a real happy trail! I then thought, mine is not so bad. i know hair is normal but i am still obsessed with removing body hair. if your friend is not happy with it, she should do something about it. but just let her know that she shouldn't feel ashamed of it. it is normal to have body hair. we are mammals after all.

Well, thats the thing. I keep telling her that she is fine. She is perfect no matter how much hair she has or lacks. The thing is though is that, I'm not sure, she always freaks out about how her boyfriend feels about it and **** like that. She is extremely paranoid that he will spread **** around and stuff. I dont know. I love her for how she is right now. She just doesn't see that shes a great person, and in my eyes, she is really beautiful. Oh well. Thank you for the help you guys.
