I just got back an abnormal pap result saying that they detected a LSIL (low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion) which is suposivly caused by HPV. I found out the results on Friday, so of course I am freaking out all weekend.

I am 19 yrs old and had never had abnormal paps before. Before I had this pap, I had sex about 10 hrs before my doctors visit, which I read afterwards you arent suposed to have unprotected sex 48 hrs before a pap..I'm wondering if that could cause a false-positive? Has anyone ever had a false-postivie reading?

I have no external signs, and I have done some research and a few websites said that 70%-90% of the time over a 1-3 yr period, LSILs tend to regress and paps will come back normal. I am freaking out becasue I dont want to end up with warts, cancer, and certainly not being able to have kids. Has anyone been diagnosed with an LSIL or know anything about it? I am just looking for any answers I can find. Thanks!
