I'm 18 years old, and about three months ago I was diagnosed with having hand foot and mouth disease, and was told that it would go away after about a week. And it did...but then it came back a few weeks later with the same exact symptoms. I've had it on and off for about three months now, and it's like getting knocked out with the flu every few weeks. I don't have any of the hand or foot sores associated with it, but I do have a general feeling of malaise and aching, as well as low-grade fevers, and painful sores in my throat and back of my tongue. I've looked ALL over the internet to see if I could find some cases of recurring hand foot and mouth disease, but I can't find anything. The culture showed that it isn't herpes, and my doctor is convinced that it is hand foot and mouth - but he has no clue as to how I keep getting reinfected. Most people just get it once and then gain an immunity to it. Is it possible my body isn't recognizing it or that I may have some sort of immunity problem? Does anyone have any answers?

Hey.. i was also diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease several months ago. I got it because I held a tiger cub for a picture with my daughter. I woke up one morning thinking I had a blister from picking up a hot roll at dinner the night before. Within 2 days I could not even hold a napkin I hurt so bad and couldn't walk and my throat was so sore. The dr gave me a shot, pain meds and told me to come back in 3 days.. When I came back that is when he confirmed what it was and had another dr come in. By then I had the red spots everywhere. My hands and feet even started peeling. The 2 antibiotics they gave me this time make me so sick and fatigued. I wanted to die.. Also I was getting married in 3 weeks and wanted that stuff off :) I was told it would come back also. I had a flare up about 2 weeks ago. The red blisters werent there but some parts on my hands started to peel again and I felt bad again.. I couldn't find anything online either. Also, I was told that children under 10 usually get this but I got it because I have a weak immune system..
