Hi,
I am in search of "something" natural that will help acid reflux and did a search on this board on Digestive Enzymes. As you know, the ppi's only treat the symptoms and probably never "cure" the reflux. But I've asked myself many times "what is the cause of reflux"? Anyway, I found all the posts back from 2003 on Magnesium and how it has helped some. Is there anyone still on this board from 2003 who can give me input re: the magnesium and digestive enzymes? I certainly will try the magnesium....but I would like your experiences with it.
Thanks,
Missy

I used a magnesium calcium zinc supplement and took as it said on the bottle. it was 2 dollars from a dollar store and it worked for me it takes about four days after being on it..in my experience. there are differnet magnesium..magnesium stearate and magnesium oxide..i just bought some magnesium oxide tonight...im not sure what the magnesium was for the first bottles i bought from the dolllar store, but this magnesium oxide i am trying is from walmart and is a once a day daily pill and is 250mg.
i had problems such as a lot of belching, and it was like hot acidity feeling burps that kept me awake at night...it would last up to an hour and i would feel very nauseas..after the first four days of taking magnesium it went away..when i stopped taking MG it came back..so i plan on taking it continuously:)

The 16 post in the Information Archive list a web site about magnesium and it's importance. The thread is at the top of this board --page 4.
Every cell in your body has magnesium -- and about 67% is in your bones -- lacking magnesium can result in alot of problems!!
Be careful of taking enzymes with acid in it if you have GERD--Betaine and Bromaline they don't agree with me-- and don't use the real high powered ones.
And yes some of us are still around.
