last year i was involved in an ATV accident, i seperated my shoulder and went to the hospital. Now almost a year later my shoulder has a huge drop off from my collerbone. Its also football season which means im gonna be doing a lot of hitting. i went to the Chiropractor today and got some X-rays and she said it looked bad (there was a big difference in the two shoulders), and i was getting the implacation that surgery may be required becasue she said something like "you could get arthritus before your 30" (im 16 right now).
my question is how often is shoulder surgery done and what do the doctors look for when they determine wheather you need surgery or not? would my age be a factor? and is it too late to start rehab without surgery.

Clarify to me whether you really "seperated" or dislocated your shoulder. Sometimes people don't know the difference.
I have had arthroscopic and open surgery for my left shoulder after dislocations from football and basketball. I am soon turn turn 17 in September. SPORTS ARE MY LIFE.
Seperations usually don't require surgery for football unless you are a real contact player.
