Ok this might sound really weird and even disgusting but please help. Lately, I've noticed that when I pick or scratch my belly button it smells, but really bad. I shower everyday and make sure to wash it, I even get q-tips to clean out my belly button. When I do it sorta leaks, I dont know what it is, but that wetness dries up and I have crust in my bellybutton and it stinks. Whats wrong???? Im a very clean person but have trouble w/ this.. help? Oh also, at times when I clean it, it'll hurt and it'll get red. I dont have it pierced so I dont know what the cause of this is

Hi, my situation is a little different, i get pus in my bellybutton but it doesn't stink and i'm on antibiotics bacause mine is a staph infection and it still hasn't gone away. Iv'e had mine for 3 months now, a pus ball forms then it breaks and leaks like green yellow pus then dries up and comes back again. If it continues i would go get it checked out at the Dr. sorry i couldn't help more. :wave:

It sounds like you have an infection of some type. You need to see a doctor.

Clean it out every day with a q tip and alcohol.sometimes this just happens for no apparent reason.but if it does continue to bother you or it gets any worse, I would see a doc as it could be some sort of an infection.FB

For one thing, use caution when using anything in your bellybutton, it might get lost! YES, you read that right, I have had the same problem all my life, don't know what causes it, but its gross. I tried one time to clean my bellybutton out with a q tip and the end of the q tip fell off in there, well my husband had to use needle nose phliers to get it out, and I almost had to go to the ER cuz my bellybutton is extra long in there..I will NEVER use one again, that hurt really bad and I ended up with a nasty infection. My suggestion, lay down and pour some peroxide in there and let it do its trick, and wash really well and use some anti-biotic cream in there like once a week, it seems to do the trick for me. Good Luck, I think this is a common thing for most people, after all, your clothes rub on your belly and just stuff in the air, after all that is an open port!

i was just going to write a topic about my belly button then i think i get sort of what you get babywest but mine doesn't leak...one day i noticed this crusty yellowy stuff round my belly button so i tried to clean it using some baby oil and a cotton bud, then inside i noticed i get this white and sometimes black stuff, so i decided to clean it out inside, not pushing the bud right down inside, coz that scares me lol, but just gently inside the bits you can see and i pulled out some white stuff and i smelt it and it did stink, i think what it was is stale sweat that gets trapped inside it, and then it starts to smell and turn white or blacky. i had to clean it out today too...
