Back in April, I became very limited with severe pain in my joints and muscles. Mainly my hands, elbows, feet and the muscles above and below my elbows and calf muscles. I had much difficulty in walking, my feet felt like they were full of broken bones. My all over body aches felt like severe flu with the above mentioned on top of them. This was almost a week after receiving a shot of cortisone in my right elbow for tendonitis, in which the NP first tried to use a dull needle for the shot. That seemed to start a long process of misery for me. I would go to the doctor every couple of weeks for follow up and they would take blood for testing. They tested me for Lupus, Lyme's Disease, Rhuematoid Arthritis, all negative, and finally the fourth bloodtest they ran for Lymes, Syphillis, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever--that test came back positive for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I never broke out in the rash, I do not remember finding a tick on me. I was put on a month of Doxycyline and I improved somewhat, but since I came off the Doxycycline, I am still suffering with severe joint pain in my feet, hands and elbows and still have severe muscle pain in my arms and legs and muscle cramps when I try to use them the least little bit. I was finally sent to Infectious Disease Center, and they only said the test showed I did have contact with RMSF, but that it may be rhumatoid Arth or Osteo arth, they arent sure what. They took more blood to see if the RMSF was gone and said to come back in 4 weeks blood test. It is just a slow process, of continueing to go to the doctor, not finding out anything, researching on the net...my symptons are similar to Fibromyalgia, RA and Lupus(but no rash). Has anybody had RMSF, and what were your symptoms and has anybody been left with the joint and muscle pain afterward? I could not find a thread already done on RMSF, so I thought I would start my own, am hoping to find someone that is facing this same thing...would be nice to know that I am not alone with my pain.
