OK - I just got two very tiny dragonflies on my back Saturday and they are healing without any problems (no scabbing, etc). I have a larger one on my shoulder so I know these are basically healed comparing it to my other one.

My question is it is suppose to be BEAUTIFUL :) and sunny this coming weekend and I want to go to the pool. It will be one week since I had my tattoo and they said to wait two weeks before swimming or sunning - what will happen if I do swim? I can cover the tattoo with heavy duty sunscreen but will the chlorine do anything? Anybody break the "rules' before and if so any problems??

it can interfere with the healing process. It can fade the ink too. I would just avoid it, you knew before you got the tattoo you'd have to wait a while before you could go in the sun or swim, so just tough it up. I wouldnt want it to heal wrong if i was in your shoes. I guess you can always get it touched up in the future, but then you get to go through the pain again.

I have 2 tattoos, and heeded the advice to the letter for both of them. It's your decision.....but I don't think you should risk the quality of your awesome tattoos just for a swim on a hot sunny day.

I will tell you...I've seen a lot of "abused" tattoos...and they look mighty anemic, spread out and blurry.

Hang in there till after yours has healed properly.
I have a dragonfly on my leg (with a spiderweb and a vine).

OK I'll guess I'll wait. I know I need to follow the instructions but the vanity of getting some tanning in was trying to convince me otherwise, lol. Just never hurts to ask fellow tattoo fans :D

i am with quincy--- i have a nice sized tattoo on my leg that i kept creamed until it healed and it healed perfectly. my husband has 23 tattoos, worked in the sun all his life but kept them covered until they healed.
