Hi,
Within the past year I have actually been able to control the focusing of my vision, I have heard that there are people who can do this. Is this generally something that develops a lot early in life? Also how common is it.

Hi damsel,
Welcome to the boards. I don't understand the question either. Could you explain in more detail what you mean by being able to control the focusing of your vision?

Well it first started in about Feburary when I was doing an exercise class I was looking into the mirror (they was one right in front of me). At first I could see how I normally see just slightly blurry (I have actually got glasses-these are for distance vision and I only use them for driving and reading things from the board). Anyway I just looked at the mirror and a few seconds later without me concentrating the image became perfectly clear and since this time things have been going in and out of focus on occasions, sometimes I can blink and it helps to focus the image. Also when I go on the train I can see down to the end of the section of carriage Iam in and see the people's faces focused clearly I could not do this last year.
The only possible explaination I could think of was that I've been doing classes to aid flexible and thus have relaxed my body generally (inc my eye muscles). Has anyone else got an explaination.

You're vision is not too bad since you only need glasses for driving and reading things from the board. On the other hand, you say that since it first happened, your vision has been going in and out of focus on occasions. Blinking can sometimes focus an image better because of the abundance of tears. Just like when you put eye drops in your eyes. It sort of acts like a contact lens, only it doesn't last very long. Also, you might notice that objects appear much clearer as the sun is setting, if it's setting directly behind you. Have you ever noticed this too?
There are just too many things to list that can cause fluctuations in vision. When was your last eye exam? Or maybe I should be asking, when was your last 'comprehensive' eye exam? You know, where they put the drops in your eyes to dialate your pupils.

Thanks for your reply.
Had an eye exam reasonably recently and was wondering about the pupil test. They did other tests I do not know how well they would rule out pupil abnormalities. I told them I have one pupil that is bigger than the other but it is only transient so they might not have thought it significant. Also this change in pupil size occured about a year ago. I have heard that it is normal for some people to have this but I do not know if those people are born with it.

You mentioned they did other tests. Did they dialate your pupils? The reason I ask is because when they use the dialation drops, they are better able to find abnormalties or diseases that might be missed with the regular exam.
