ick is right lol..........this person should be at home keeping his virus away from others. This is what I found on the web though
Mono is contagious, which means you can easily spread the virus to other people who haven't had mono before. Even though you can get mono from kissing someone infected with EBV, there are also other ways you can get it, but they all involve contact with saliva. Coughing (while not covering your mouth) on someone or sharing pillows, straws, toothbrushes, or food from the same plate also spread mono.
If you get mono, you can infect other people for up to 6 months afterward. At first, people usually don't feel sick after getting infected with the EBV virus. So someone could have mono - and be spreading it - and not even know it. That's why it's important not to share things like forks, straws, or lip gloss at school.
I hope you wont catch it.......steer clear of them ..also look it up on web lots of info..........beth

I wanted to add after reading even more about mono you should be fine as long as you do not share drinks, food,or anything with this person where his saliva could be on it.Also as long as he doesnt cough on you.

Mono is extremely contagious. I caught it from someone who was sneezing and coughing on an airplane. This co worker should be at home w/ his germs instead of at work spreading them around. Also, mono has a 4-7 wk incubation period, so he could have already given it to others and they don't even know it yet.
