My allergist prescribed Allegra for me to take with my Claritin for my various allergies(to molds, dust, cat dander, dust mites, nuts, fish). After taking the Allegra for about six months, I noticed a moderate tightening in my chest about 10 min after taking it with or without food.

I notice the same tightness when I take the claritin too, but it tends not to be as severe as it is when I take the Allegra. I stopped taking Benadryl for this very reason. Could I be developing a sensitivity or allergy to both these medications?

I plan to ask my allergist about this when I see him next week, but I just wanted some input from fellow allergy suffers about this. It frustrates me that these pills relieve the tightness in my throat, but seem to aggravate my mild asthma( he also prescribed Singulair and Advair for me which I stopped taking because I hated the way both meds made me feel -lightheaded and dizzy).

He also prescribed Albutrol for the throat tightness which works fine when I take it, but I don't want to take too much of it, as it excites my heart.

I'd appreciate any advice in dealing with this complex issue. Thanks!
