I had been taking zoloft for 4 years for anxiety - seemed to work. I weened off it over 8 months and have been off 5 months. I am al of a sudden under much stress and axiety. I feel like I should start taking Zoloft again. I want to know if anyone has ever done this - gone off for several months then gone back on? If so did it work and how long until it is effective again?

to what to know, during those 4 years you should have learned CBt coping skills and new ways of calming and relaxing yourself so you could cope with the return of the old problems on quitting if they returned, sometimes they do sometimes not
the zoloft usually works again, sometimes a higher dose is needed

there are several other types of antidepressants that may work, for example effexor

:angel: My advice don't go back to any meds I was on zoloft and klonopin for 13 years Im off them now its been 9 months I been free I call it free. You got better so you stopped why go back on them its not meds you need we need to approach things in life stressful things different instead of running to the doctor for a quick fix lets stop that cycle there is natural remedies out there try them hardly any side effects hope I could help just my advice again Im free Im not letting some little pill control my life ever again I refuse to go back wards keep going forward :bouncing:

I was on Zoloft 150mgs like a year and a half ago, and I've had a major relapse. My Dr, prescribed me Zoloft again at 25mgs. I'm hoping that I will have success like I had before. If you feel like you need to be on the meds, I'd talk to your doc about it, then maybe get into see a therapist who specializes in CBT. I've been seeing a therapist for a little over a month now and she has taught me coping skills that have worked.

Have hope!!! I am now on my 4th time of zoloft!!!! Everytime it has worked...yeah GOD!!!! I have tried Paxil (for a week) thought I was going to die, then tried Lexapro UGH!!!!! only was on that for a week also. I just came off 6 days of Effexor XR....,.made me feel like a total zombie...as of yesterday the Dr told me to go back to zoloft & take Klonopin. Klonopin really helps at night to sleep. I have taken xanax & I hate the roller coaster ride I was on with it...klonopin stays in your system way longer so its so much smoother. I know I won't need the klonopin once the zoloft kicks in...just got to wait it out. My Dtr says that if the zoloft has worked three times it will certainly work again!!!! Lainey
