I have rhinitis of the nose and very thick post nasal drip. I know that I should be on nasacort and mucinex but should I also take Allegra? I know that antihistimines can cause mucos to get thicker which is why I think it might not be right for me. I dont have the wet symptoms of allergies just dry congested nose. I have been taking nasacort and allegra but the mucos is still thick at times. Maybe I should just use the nasacort without the allegra?

that's the route i would take. make sure you drink plenty of fluids with the mucinex or it dries you up more.

If your thick drainage is caused by allergies, then you need the antihistimine IMO. Allegra is not as drying as most on the market.
At the same time, it's always worth a try to not take it and see how you feel. If it doesn't work out, you can just start taking it again.

I was thinking of stopping it for just three days to see if that would cause any sort of change. Then I started freaking out thinking maybe that was a stupid idea and would make things worse. Im still thinking its helping more than hurting but I cant know for sure until I stop taking it.

i was told to take claritin-d from my ent. it is a decongestant + antihistimine. personally for me, it has worked better than the expensive Rx brands. you could buy the 5 day pack for like $4 at walmart. i actually buy the walmart brand.
