Well I'd not killed me yet.... I've had it for about 20 years, brought on by not wearing hearing protection for too many loud events - guns, fireworks, music, etc. Back in my youth we were never told to worry about stuff like that, and I didn't. Of course we did a lot of things then that we wouldn't today (open air testing, ...)
You have my sympathy about the tinitus, if this is a recent developement, know that afte a while you'll ignore it for the most part. Except for the high stress days, then it's the loudest thing you hear :) so relax!
