UKMALE:
I'm sorry no one else has responded to your concern. Sounds to me as though your blood pressure is pretty high. This is usually the case when you can feel that pounding together with the beat of your heart. Have you been under stress lately? Do you have any other symptoms? Burning in your chest, or anything or the sort.
Try to give some more information, and in the mean time, go into a pharmacy and relax and use one of the automated cuff machines... I'm assuming they have these in pharmacies in the UK as the do in the US. Otherwise, see if you can call your doctor to just get your pressure taken.
Good luck, and give us some more info to try to help you.

CancerDad

I answered this on the other board you posted it on. Please do not now assume you have high blood pressure. As CancerDad says, you need to get it checked before you start taking measures to lower it. Anxiety can cause all kinds of problems.

Dear UKmale
I do not know much about blood pressure but you can easily get it checked out by a number of means. You could make an appointment with your GP but you could get it resolved quicker and easier if you saw your practice nurse at the clinic. She could also help you with other stuff to help you monitor your health if it is of concern to you. For example, most GP practices run various clinics for blood pressure, chlorestorole (bad spelling), diabetes, asthma, weight programs, etc. It might help you if you chose one or two of these clinics most applicable to you to help you manage your health and give you a sense of control over it. It doesnt mean you are constantly at the clinic, just 3 or 4 visits per year maybe or more if required. They have some great resources which are free and there to be used.
Some pharmacies will also check your blood pressure on the spot so that another source to try too.
btw, i have suffered from stress on a number of occassions, either work related or family related. The pounding heart bit is scary and kept me awake cos it seemed to shake my whole body and I could not sleep for days on end. If this sounds familiar then you really do need to see someone about it. Stress can lead to poor health and spiral out of control.
Dont be afraid of asking your doctor or nurse to help, it is a good step to taking control of your health.
good luck
