Hi. I am a 20 year old female. I have been diagnosed with Panic Disorder/Depression.
Yesterday after a bowel movement, there was some blood on the toilet paper. This morning I went to Urgent care because I couldn't get into my doctor until next week.
She did a rectal exam and said there was a slight bit of blood in the stool. She said she is almost 90% sure it is nothing major is wrong. But of course, I think the worst.
I have not had any other obvious symptoms related to this...
Any advice, reassurance??
Thanks

You are 20 years old and this is the first time you have seen blood on the toilet paper after a bowel movement? I've seen that so many times. It is caused by straining when having a bowel movement. Very normal.

to miss angela
its not connected to anxiety at all, probably piles which can be internal
if theres lots of internal leaking of blood the stool will be black

HRY, i knew it wasn't related to anxiety I just wondered if anyone had any advice or anything.
The doctor did a rectal exam and said she didn't feel any internal or external hemrroids. My stool has not been black or anything.
A couple of months ago, this happened and I ended up having a tear in my rectum, but the doctor said she didn't see one this time....
Thanks

i bleed at least once a week im 21, i think sometimes your bum tears a little bit. it's only bad if it is black blood cuz it means its from your belly.

not without any other symptoms. the occassional blood in women can also be vaginal and you can't tell. maybe you were spotting. sounds like a rectal tear especially if it is red and not black. if it continues please check with your dr. husband had the same problem. had a colonoscopy and everything was fine. let us know if it persists.

Well the nurse practioner said that she didn't see any "visible" tears, but that there could be one up in my rectum.
I have an appointment with my doctor for August 25th, so hopefully it is just a tear and he does some tests just to make sure.
Thanks everyone for your support! I will keep you posted!
