That sucks.
I hate going to hair dressers who have no clue what the hell they're doing and totally mess up your hair. Don't worry though...at least your hair isn't super short now.
You don't really have to do anything with it if it's past shoulder length. I think that's a fine legth you can manage and do anything you want with.
Maybe you can just deal with straight hair till it grows out as far as you want it to, then you can do whatever you want.
Curling isn't hard, as long as you do the over-night curlers.
I've seen people use steam ones..and those don't really work. They curl the hair, and then an hour later it goes flat.
Curling irons are also horrible. They'll burn hair/give you split ends, but don't do the job. For me at least none of that has worked.
What I do is get some spongy curlers, and put them on after I dry my hair.
Then I just go to bed like that, and the next morning my hair is super curly and looks great. It's a little uncomfortable to sleep with those on, but at least it does the job.
And if it's too curly you can easily fix it with some product.
You really don't have to worry about having horrible hair. I'm sure it's fine because it's still long enough for you to be able to do a ton of stuff with it.
