I recently received the results of my cholesterol test but my doctor is out of town and i received them from the receptionist. She told me my HDL was 70 and my LDL 102??? I asked what this means and she didn't know. Can anyone answer this?

Those are great HDL and LDL numbers. HDL is the so called "good" cholesterol (above 40 is desirable) and LDL is the so called "bad" cholesterol, but high LDL levels can be misleading due to the different LDL subtypes and other parameters (desirable is less than 130). I would get a copy of your lab report though for your records. Other important blood parameters are your triglycerides (normal is less than 150, desirable is less than 100) and your bloodsugar (glucose) level (normal is 70-90, above 110 is impaired glucose tolerance).
