I had blood work done and my c-reactive protein came back slightly elevated. (so did my sugar, so doc thought diabetes, today says no) so on to something new. He says that some connective tissue disorders--I assume like arthritis--can have some of the symptoms I have had. Here they are--for over two months I have had numbness and tingling in hands and feet, also pins and needles in same places, my hands sometimes shake, yesterday I felt horrible and could not get comfortable in any position, I had weird swellings a few weeks ago. There was two swellings on the back of my occipital bone, moved down to my neck (doc called it viral), then moved down into my shoulders, arm pit, and then took residence between my thumb and pointer finger in each hand. I went back so he ordered blood. The swellings looked like a golf ball was sitting between thumb and finger and were painful and thumb movement was extremely difficult. That lasted two days. My feet ache terrible almost always. I already had an EMG which ruled out the intitial diagnosis of carpel tunnel that doctor gave me along with planter fasciitis which the braces for hand nor shoe inserts helped. I have posted on the diabetes and ms boards too a few days ago because doc at one point said possible ms. I am just trying to get any answers or suggestions from anyone willing to offer. I think the problem is my doctor. I am not too confident in him since the guessing over the last two months.
Thank you

Hi tweetyd7,
What kind of dr. are you seeing for these awful problems? A rheumatologist? That is who I would think you should be seeing. If you already are, maybe you should change drs. But, I have heard, that it can take 2 - 3 visits to get everything even half way straightened out. Sometimes it take a long time to get the correct meds and the correct dosages.
What kinds of meds are you, or have you taken? I do not know too much about half of those things you were talking about. My hands and fingers do swell a lot. The part between the knuckles where my hand joins my fingers swells the most. Not too much I can do, except pain meds, because I cannot take anti-inflammatories.
The others will probably reply in the am. Good Luck. Wannabe

I am seeing just a general practicioner because with our insurance he is the only one that can write a referral to any other doctor. Because he thought I had diabetes than said no I did not, I wasn't feeling well last night and yesterday and took my glucose and it was 51 at one point and 49 at another. So, maybe hypoglycemia and that is a sign of something else wrong if a person does not have diabetes--I mean like an underlying problem. I take no medication, unless I take advil when I start to feel achy and that's it. I called my insurance's on call nurse last night and she told me I had to see a doctor today because sugar should not be that low and since I was told I didn't have diabetes, then I really need to go see him again. Thank you for your reply back.

The doctor says no arthritis because my sedaments are fine. The c-reactive protein was only slightly elevated. He told me to go on a diet. That's his answer to everything. Thanks for your help.
